U.S. actors Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors received Guinean citizenship after tracing their ancestry to the West African nation through DNA testing.
The married couple recently arrived in Guinea’s capital, Conakry, where they were welcomed by government representatives, musicians, and cultural leaders, according to a report by the BBC.
A private citizenship ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture took place in the capital of Conakry on Friday. They are scheduled to tour the country’s tourist sites on Sunday.
Good, best known for her roles in films such as “Think Like a Man,” said the visit was her first time in Guinea. Majors, who has appeared in major franchises including “Creed” and Marvel’s “Ant-Man,” has said he is looking forward to meeting local residents and learning more about the country alongside his wife.
“We are just happy to be here,” Good told the outlet.
During their stay, the couple is also scheduled to travel to Boké, a coastal region known for its historical connections to the slave trade. It remains unclear whether the two plan to invest in or establish long-term residence in the country.
Good and Majors married in 2024 after beginning their relationship in May 2023.
In an appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show,” they shared wedding photographs and discussed participating in premarital counseling.
Majors’ mother, Terri Anderson-Watson, who officiated the ceremony and works as a pastor and licensed therapist, addressed the process during the program.
“It was a strange position to be in,” Anderson-Watson said about her role in the wedding.
“As the pastor, I was concerned about their spiritual position in marriage because this is a vow they’re making before God. It had to be for real. It had to be deep, and it had to be lasting.”
Good has also shared updates from her personal life through social media. In a recent Instagram post, she shared photos and videos from a family trip to Cartagena, Colombia, and reflected on the experience.
“THEE MOST EPIC BIRTHDAY FAMILY TRIP EVER! Such beautiful memories I will cherish for a lifetime,” she wrote in the post.
Professionally, Good has said she is focusing on upcoming projects following the conclusion of her role on the series “Harlem.”
In interviews, she has discussed interest in pursuing action roles, developing a health and wellness brand with her husband, and planning for a family.
“I feel like my best is yet to come,” she said in an interview with The Associated Press, adding that she believes she is “just getting started.”
